RYBL 2020 Spring Baseball Schedule

March 20, 2020

RYBL Family,

We wanted to provide you with an update for the RYBL season. The board met last night (virtually) and discussed how the RYBL season will be affected and made some plans to get our ballgames underway. Please keep in mind that these dates are based on the current known guidelines that have been put in place by the Indiana State Governor, Howard County Board of Commissioners, and Babe Ruth, Inc (Cal Ripken). These dates will be changed as directed by these governing bodies.

May 16 – All teams can resume practices
May 26 – Games will start
June 6 – Opening day ceremonies
August 1 – Last day of the RYBL season

The board had a lengthy discussion about these dates last evening and our focus is to return a sense of normalcy to our players as quickly as possible. We also are focused on giving our players plenty of opportunities to play baseball before the end of the season. To accomplish this, a few decisions were made.
First, there will not be any league tournaments this year. Second, at this time RYBL will not be participating in any all-star tournaments. These two actions will allow all of our players to play in many more games than if we tried to stuff all of this into an already cramped season. And thirdly, we will be playing baseball Monday through Saturday at all age divisions. While we understand this could and most likely will provide scheduling conflicts, the end goal is to provide as much opportunity to play baseball to all players as we can. The status of any city tournaments is still up in the air and will be discussed among the Howard County leagues in the coming weeks.
There are still some details that the board will be working out over the coming weeks, but we wanted to give an update as soon as we had some information. We now have some tentative dates that we are working towards and looking forward to. We cannot wait to get back and play ball!
Please keep in mind that at this time all RYBL team practices and activities are still suspended. However, playing catch in the backyard, hitting into a net, or catching fly balls is not. Spend some time outside with your child and help to get them ready to play ball!

Thank you,
The RYBL Board

A Great Place to Play

Welcome to the Russiaville Youth Baseball League(RYBL) – great park, great fans, great kids! The Russiaville Youth Baseball League played its first season on the current site (Lions Club Grounds) in 1966. Games are played at one of the best facilities in and around Howard County in Russiaville Indiana. RYBLs Cal Ripken League is a main highlight of the community with its pre-season trademark being an incredible Opening Day parade that takes over (Indiana) 26 with floats, sponsors, Western’s band and 400-plus, small-fry base thieves. Toss in a few roses, and you’d have Pasadena in April. All those associated with RYBL – players, coaches, parents, umpires, sponsors and volunteers – play important roles in making this Cal Ripken league one of the premier leagues in central Indiana.
