RYBL Season Update - 05/29/2020

RYBL Families,

The RYBL board has been reviewing the current pandemic situation very closely. We have reviewed various suggested guidelines from state/local government, Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Baseball, and have also taken into account the feedback we received from our league questionnaire. Based on all of this information, with the health and safety of our families, ballplayers, coaches, umpires, and volunteers, at our upmost importance, the RYBL board has completed a very thorough review of the 2020 spring season. As a result, the RYBL board has decided at this time to push the 2020 spring season back to August. Doing so gives us more time to see how the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic plays out, obviously this is all subject to change based on any further information and guidelines mandated by state/local government and Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Baseball. This delay also gives our families time to plan their vacations and trips for the summer. The current schedule will be as follows: games will begin on August 1 and run until mid-October and allow teams to start to practice on July 6.

We do realize that this will provide playing issues for some players who participate in fall sports (assuming fall sports continue as they normally would), and we do apologize, but we believe that this is the best path moving forward for the league. Teams will practice as they would in the spring with games played Monday through Saturday as needed. We plan to have a full schedule of games with each age division (T-Ball, 8U, 10U & 12U).

What happens now? A couple of actions are needed from you.

  1. All players, managers, assistant coaches, and team moms who will be participating in the fall will need to fill out a Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken waiver form. This waiver form must be filled out and given to your coach or emailed to waiver@rybl.org.

YOU CAN NOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY ACTIVITIES (PRACTICE OR GAMES) AS A PLAYER/MANAGER/COACH/ASSISTANT/TEAM MOM IF THIS WAIVER FORM IS NOT FILLED OUT AND TURNED IN TO THE LEAGUE!

This form can be found on the RYBL website or by clicking HERE.

  1. If you are unsure of your playing/coaching availability due to other fall sports, other commitments, or pandemic conditions you will need to fill out the form located HERE. By completing this form, you will be given more time to see how the pandemic affects your other commitments and to decide if you will participate in the season. By filling out this form you will still be eligible to receive a refund past June 8.

  2. If you have registered for the spring and have decided not to play/coach or are unable to play/coach, you need to fill out our opt-out form located HERE. By filling out this form you are letting us know that you will not be participating in the fall season and will need to do so no later than June 8. After June 8, a refund will not be issued.

  3. If you didn’t register for the 2020 spring season but now wish to play or coach, you need to register on the RYBL website or by clicking HERE. The registration window will only be open until June 8.

Players wishing to opt-out need to do so by June 8.

If you are not playing with us for the fall season, your registration fee can be handled in one of three ways:

  1. Your registration can be given to the league in form of a donation. When the season came to a halt in March, we were in the middle of a renovation project of our concession stand and new restrooms. Your registration would be set aside, and ear-marked for this much needed improvement project.

  2. Your registration will be applied to your account and go towards registration fees for next year.

  3. A refund can be issued via check

Please note that when the season was put on hold in March, our uniforms were already ordered and just a few weeks from being delivered. Any refund will be your registration fee minus the cost of the uniform. Arrangements will be made to get your player their uniform.

A Great Place to Play

Welcome to the Russiaville Youth Baseball League(RYBL) – great park, great fans, great kids! The Russiaville Youth Baseball League played its first season on the current site (Lions Club Grounds) in 1966. Games are played at one of the best facilities in and around Howard County in Russiaville Indiana. RYBLs Cal Ripken League is a main highlight of the community with its pre-season trademark being an incredible Opening Day parade that takes over (Indiana) 26 with floats, sponsors, Western’s band and 400-plus, small-fry base thieves. Toss in a few roses, and you’d have Pasadena in April. All those associated with RYBL – players, coaches, parents, umpires, sponsors and volunteers – play important roles in making this Cal Ripken league one of the premier leagues in central Indiana.
